In this line of practice, many tend to forget the skills & professional input a Lighting Professional has to offer, in value adding towards any built environment, in particular new property developments.
The uninformed & uneducated clients have tendency to invest blind faith in those who know little or nothing about the implications of the wrong use of lighting fixtures and/or specifications, leading to exponential costs that the client has to bear, without knowing what justifies the expenses incurred.
The recent debate ongoing for an isolated case with one particular contractor would have sufficed to open the eyes of the developer who has ignorantly been employing the services of the less qualified. Special effort on my part was invested to enlighten the unsuspecting client, and not intentional to discredit the less qualified.
However, with consultants & other qualified professionals in the picture, I seriously doubt the facts presented can spare the contractor the embarrassment.
What’s bewildering is; how unfortunate the client puts itself at the mercy of the undeserving, while it’s after all the pay master?
Lighting to many is intangible & often overlooked, but where property development & investments are involved, one should pay heed to the invaluable advice of professionals… For light is what endears or kills the value of the interest at hand- the saleability/ marketability of the property.
